I’m actually impressed. And I feel guilty because I was going to watch it as a car wreck, nothing really serious. but so far, at least as of episode 2, the intentions of Dr Drew and VH-1 for Celebrity Rehab are not drivey by shock value. Whatever the hidden agenda (if there even is one that is evil), I’m convinced he really wants to help get these people healthy. So anyway, while I’m sitting here identifying sadly with some of the people, Dr.Drew is talking to that poor American Idol girl, Jessica Sierra. He observes that she is holding onto some major resentments and she admits that yes she is, it’s what she does. He says:
“Your resentments will kill you”
Gets me thinking a little. I know I’m holding onto a lot of shit. I’m sure you figured that out already.
Your resentments will kill you.
I’ve been really impressed with the show as well; it’s a really painful show to watch, but it almost feels necessary to understand what the people go through, which is what makes it riveting television. But you’re right Dr. Drew does appear to really want to make them better, which gives the show a moral center that prevents it from seeming exploitative.
I haven’t watched the show but I saw some snippets.
That mantra is great though. I’m trying really hard to let go of grudges and bitterness towards people but sometimes its hard. Sometimes some people that you know you’ll have to deal with for a long time are just complete turds.
I never really watched that show in full. Hmmm. Gets me thinking.
Yeah, I guess resentments can kill you… like everything I blew up on my last post. I think I used the word F*ck a dozen times. But, I don’t f*cking care… sometimes resentment makes you strong, sometimes it holds you back… I don’t know. Thats a good question!
