I’m trying to be healthier (shut up!)
I’m constantly loagy and oafy and slow and I can’t concentrate. I’m pasty and floppy and white and droopy. I’m 31, people – i can’t live like I’m 23, drinking a buttload, not exercising, having sex with pizza (besides that). I start thinking all these weird things in my head like.. shouldn’t I be taking weird hormones so my uterus doesn’t fall out ? What about my bone density? Am I going to need to take those weird chewy calcium supplements that make you constipated for months? To avoid all that, i’m going to RELIGIOUSLY and with great care and obsession track my food and exercise.
I’m using this thing called thedailyplate.com that my friend Quail used. It’s online, it’s covered in ads, but when you use the standard version, their database is complete with items from Trader joe’s logged right alongside burger king. You can also input your exercise — which is the only slightly flawed part if you ask me. I mean, yes I walk about 17 minutes and .83 miles to work and ditto that back, but is it really possible that I burn 55 calories doing that? I need a second opinion. anyway, I’ve worked out that i want to lose 2 lbs a week and if I hit the gym every day I can definitely acheive this. no, I will not tell you what my calorie limit is per day because i don’t want any nervous nellies out there trying to be all motherly. especially since it’s perfectly healthy. But you know, you can’t reason with some people!
the true test is going to be this weekend. i’ll be up at my parents where I tend to drink a bit and eat too much cheese and crsipy bread products. I’ll just have to be very careful and stay the course!
And of course, I usually never make it past Day Two, so cross your fingers – day two and all.
If you can do it for 2 weeks, you’re well on your way. I really think the trick to weight loss is using weights. I run a ton and won’t lose an ounce unless I do that. You burn calories all day instead of just during like cardio. I’m sure you know this, but I just figured it out myself and it’s working. (I’m a little slow)
Good luck with day 2!
well, I’m all shy about weights, so I’m starting out with my comfort zone, which is the bike and running, mixed with better diet. Today I’m feeling sort of ambitious and might actually head to the gym for an ab class at 1:15. And then in the afternoon do the running/bike thing. As soon as my friend Bex gets back from Hawaii, I’ll see if she’ll do weights with me. I can’t help it, I’m so self conscious!!
kspin is right…two to three weeks is the turning point where you can start enjoying the workouts and building a habit out of it.
I really need to go out for a run.
I find it very surprising that you could be shy about anything! You’ll be fine.
push up and squats at home will have almost the same effects, so you could always do that too!
Actually, I think 55 calories isn’t that much – considering that according to the rowing machine at the gym a 1000 meter row (or about 5 minutes) burns a couple of hundred calories…
Also I think the daily reccomended calorie intake is about 1900 ish (and who actually acheives the reccomended, right?!)
Anyways, good luck, sounds like you’ve got the right attitude
Ha! I love that! “Have sex with pizza”. My hubby is always telling me I need to settle down when I eat…aparently I make…um…noises. Hey, I enjoy food, what’s wrong with that? But I totally get you on the getting healthier kick. I’m there right now. Feeling flabby and it needs to stop. Good luck!
I used to use dailyplate but couldn’t stand all the ads and all the GOLD members made me feel inadequate and found the greatest site called fatsecret.com
I too love my pizza, I mean LOVE
In my opinion, thinking too hard about your body will let you to a bad atmosphere; I mean you may get depression badly. So, you have have to think back what s it for?, you are sweet enough and you must know that. Then, have food when you get hungry and stop eating before you feel so full. Never forget to have much warm fresh water before going to asleep and as just you have awaken
be yourself

Wow…check out the international support. Mucho bueno!
Good for you! I’ll have to check out that site. Another interesting site for recipe ideas is hungrygirl.com.
Or you could just go vegan!
